Cookie Stuffing

This stuff is getting out of hands. More and more scripts popping up and more and more newbies looking for quick bucks hopping in.
Something has to be done, they are getting more clever.
I do use some shady methods myself, but this is just plain wrong.
If some programs still pay on first visitor, you have to change it. And I hope programs monitor this stuff, as it isnt that hard to spot.
Anyone have any ideas?
Would using flash cookies for primary tracking make it harder for stuffers?

I'd be very surprised if any sponsors still credit first referral.

If you're an affiliate, it's not going to affect you. The only party conceivably losing sales/money is the sponsor with a) additional server load and b) fewer inhouse sales.

But it does affect, there are many programs in both adult and mainstream that give you credit based on the cookie for returning/typein traffic based on cookie.
Now, literally every place is stuffed with cookies, so you will lose your sale to stuffer, if surfer gets stuffed before returning.

You're right, I omitted misappropriated blind / typein traffic because it counts for so few sales.

Keep in mind, the cookie stuffed individual was / is surfing more porn after your impression in order for the cookie stuffing to take place.

Not really, on the 1-5 scale of things sucking, it's maybe a 1.5 for affilaites. There aren't many return-typeins and even fewer sales to lose therein. Try contrasting that against the shit rainbow of additional issues facing the industry right now...

Stuffing is the least of your worries, if anything it should be your favourite, the effects are inherently minimal. Sponsors can always screen for outlying ratios, which will again be inherently terrible due to sparse sales.

We have reverse sale tracking and last-click sale credit. This makes cookie stuffing a useless gesture with our programs.

Its pretty easy to detect in dating programs. The traffic pattern is very obvious, so it is very easy to make a detection tool.
