hardcore or softcore

If you were going to build a paysite...would you go into softcore or hardcore niche (if you had to pick one or the other)...lets say you had content enough for both...which one retains members better?..which one converts better? The reason I am asking is... me personally softcore leaves me wanting more it's not enough to get the juices flowing if you know what I mean..but it may be just because I am strange

I guess the questions I am asking is which one is more popular?

Any help on this topic would be much appreciated

There are some very successful softcore only sites. Most tend to be amateur and niche oriented, though.

Definatly, only softcore for the tour. You want it running through the guys head "what could be next" rather than show it all. Besides, if there is less hardcore on the net, they are more likely to pay for it! :-)

I run several softcore sites and I have no problems retainimg members, I update weekly... all exclusive

They gave me access to they're members area and at the time they only had softcore - they should be able to help you out.

They're friendly/down to earth so you can ask them anything.

Oh yea, if you've got a shit load of high quality content and the site is seriously cool you should have no problem keeping your users. Then again, web sites kinda have a life of their own so you can never really tell how it's gonna turn out until you try.

I think that softporn is beautiful when it's well presented.

and the exactly what I want my surfers to feel like when I am trying to upsell to something. I want them hot and turned on but not at the level where they get off. I want them to give in and reach for the credit card to get the hard stuff to finish them off. Once I get them there than I deliver the goods and give them hardcore.

I also deal with a lot of specific fetishes and often you don't even need to show those guys hardcore at all just lots and lots of the good stuff that fits their fetish. I can almost hear their zipper drop as sigh and say 'finally, what I have been looking for'
