digital camera batterys

Hey, I just bought some "Long Life" rechargeable digital camera batterys, they are Rayovak or something, anything, I turned my camera on, shoot about 40 pictures (in about 15 minutes) and now the batterys are dead. Does anyone know any good long lasting batterys or what the hell is goin on thanks

Digital cameras gobble batteries, especially if they're autofocus and you leave the LED screen on.

flash uses a lot more batteries too. i've gotten about 200 pics on one set of batteries before but 40 is understandable.

This may be a stupid question, but did you charge them first?

My new camera eats up expensive energiser E2 batteries like there's no tomorrow. I did barely 30-40 shots before the camera turned up its toes and demanded new batteries. Now I've got myself some 1800mAh nimh rechargeables, done 100+ shots and still going strong.

Yea they were brand new out of the box

Yes, but did you charge them first? New rechargeables will have some residual charge in them, but you need to give them a full charge before use.

I think this thread must have jinxed me, my batteries just ran out.

Don't use the LED, shoot the smallest resolution you can that's still big enough for what you want (always shoot at least a BIT bigger than the final image you want, though). I used Olympus C-line cameras (C-2020, C-3000, C-3040, and C-4040) for three years, and the batteries, if freshly charged, would get me through an entire 300-photo shoot. You must be doing something wrong.

As for the LED, the Olympus would give me about a 5-second look at the shot after the shot was taken, then it would switch off. I'm sure had I used the LED to frame the shots and left it on all the time, it would have chewed up the batteries like mad.

What kind of batterys are you using? I have the olympus c4000 camera, so if your getting 300 pics why cant i

my sony f717 lasts 230 minutes with the Lcd on..

turning on the lcd is the way to go because you can actually see what the photo is gonna look like.
