Email address access validation software?

Does anyone know of pre-built software that allows you to control access by requiring an email address from users?

For instance, they put their email address in the form and get a confirmation email. Then, when they confirm they get written to your .htpasswd file. Something along those lines, anyway.

It's not a really complicated program but I am so deep in contract projects and commercial scripts that I literally don't have time to write anything for myself. So, if you can point me towards something to do this, I would really appreciate it.

It depends on what you're going to use it for. If you're going to pay affiliates per join, you need something more secure/complex than these 50 bucks scripts. If it's your own traffic, there's loads of cheap ones out there. I bought one for $10 once. Do a google search.

Hi, CashAddict. It's my own traffic, not an affiliate program. Obviously I wouldn't trust an affiliate program to a cheap script

I did fire up a Google search and got largely irrelevent results. I also checked my favorite CGI resources with little luck. Many programs either don't have all the features I need or have other flaws. Do you have one you can recommend?
