I have played both... The hits in U.S. football are MUCH harder than any hit I have ever seen someone take or every personally taken in Rugby. No Rugby player could take those hits, over and over, play after play, without pads.

Rugby is harder in totally different ways, and being hit is not at the top of that list.

Here's how I see it ... a fully grown man, who's stacked runs full force into you ... in both sports. Why do you say NFL is harder hitting, when they physical act of smashing into someone is virtually the same? NFL is not harder, nor is Rugby. NFL just has padding to make the bruising less intense.
