I worked as a helpdesk tech for a few years. The only period worse than when we switched to HP computers was when we were going with NEC (PackardBell).

I think about 1 in 6 of the HPs was faulty in one way or another. I remember opening one up, right out of the box, and a spring flew out of nowhere at me! Zing!

I used to have one. Worst piece of shit I've ever owned. My parents bought it spur of the moment 5 years ago without consulting me.

The computer would crash and refuse to boot-up for anywhere from 1 hour to 2 days!! It was fucking absurd!

Yea, if it would be for me, I'd only work with Dell's or Sony's hmmm... I do lots of things that really requiere a lot of power, and this hp well.. haha... doesn't have enough.

I had a dual 3.1 ghz system at home, that was fast enough. Well I still have to find a PC that is fast enough to handle all the 3D stuff I do.. and all the other things.. as fast as I want. Sure... a Unix box would take care of my 3D problems but wouldn't help me with the rest.

Out of all the brands that you can get a normal store like BestBuy, which one do you guys think is best, BESIDES Dell,
which they don't sell at stores anyways. HP, Compaq, Sony Vaio, VPR Matrix or the dreaded E Machines ? And please don't say "build your own". I have a Compaq and I know everyone says they are really bad, but mine is working really nicely, and I have no probs with it whatsoever.

I work on a HP desktop and Compaq Laptop. Both are pieces of shit!

When I upgrade, I am going Dell.... No question about it.

I#d say sony... hmm.. I love the sony laptops... come with a 16.1" screen... hmm.. but those are just the laptops.

Thing is... people always don't buy the best machine available... within reason. I think it is a bad move because the machine will be outdated MUCH quicker.

If u type in word all day and browse the net it is all good.

I want a system that can have Maya 4, PS7, Img Ready, illustrator, 6-10 IE's, Plasma, and Flash open.... thats the perfect design package.. doesn't get better then that.

My old system did it.. well rendering was still a pain!

WEll, the HP computer that my parents have is impossible to update. We had to take out the hard drive to install new memory.

Ive been looking at teh VPR martix computers for when I buy my next one. Great specs, lowers prices, very easy to install new hardware (they even opened up the case for us in the store)
