Full backups from the Server?

Any suggestions on new technology, equipment, software or new methods?

This is something that I make sure happens on a regular basis and anything to make the job more automatic, speedy and foolproof (maybe, Redrob-proof) would be deeply appreciated. Any suggestions for moving beyond firewire and USB 2.0?

I think keeping the job in-house is important.

Doesn't that use a second dedicated linux server to backup the first server?

If your backup is reliant upon the primary machine (for recovery), you've wasted a step.
