I have a bf...but things are FAR from stable with us...plus, he is not ready for a baby, he is pretty much one himself! He is younger than I am...27...I am in my 30's.Originally posted by turbo

Here is my thing:
Men flake ANYWAYS...I would rather know there will be no one there to help out and be spared the clumbsy attempts of an unwilling father to try to 'help' (when convenient for the father) and be spared any court-ordered visitation and such.
I am a fairly strong woman and I think I could do this on my ownComment

If you aren't able to have a stable relationship with an adult, you shouldn't bring another child into the world.

I don't mean to be harsh. But having a child isn't about you... It is about the person you are going to have to create, and take care of. It doesn't sound like you are in a stable enough place to take on that responsibility.

Are you thinking about bringing a baby into this world because you want someone to love you unconditionally? Not trying to offend you but what in life are you missing? And why aren't you willing to wait until you find the right guy for you?

No, I think it is because I have miscarried and not gotten over it, to be quite honest.Originally posted by DrinkingHard

Quite frankly I think that some children would be much better off with only one parent from the start.
With so many marriages ending in divorce I don't really see the absolute necessity of having two parents, especially if they are going to use the child(ren) as a pawn... which happens way too often.
The non-custodial parent often does very little other than pay child support, this I've seen in so many situations I cannot even count. Of course alot of non-custodial parents don't pay child support unless the courts force them to do so.
I'm not specifically talking about men here either, I have seen a few women do the same sort of things and it is just as ugly as when a man does it.
And saying that someone should wait to find the right man, well thats just nonsense to me.
If Kayla really wants a child for the right reasons then I say go for it.
Of course she should also be prepared to do 24/7 duty all by herself for years and to shoulder the entire financial burden on her own, both of which are not easy and not something you can get out of if you get bored or tired or just don't feel like doing it. There is no one to relieve you, no one to talk about that first step, first word, or first arrest other than friends or other family members that won't feel exactly the same way about it that she does...Comment
