Its shite, well it was for me as i seemed to know exactly what was going to happen from the moment it started.
I am certain i seen a film with the exact same story line like 4-5 years ago..

I like Ellen Page but didn't find the movie to be very good. I thought it was supposed to be comedy but seemed anything but. Interesting side note, Ellen Page played Mr. Lahey's daughter in the first couple seasons of Trailer Park Boys.
you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..
Another terrible fucking movie. Someone needs to kill this bitch's acting career before she's costs me another couple hours of my life somewhere...
To each their own. All humans have different taste in entertainment. One cannot deny the talent it takes however to run with a virtual 2 hour monologue. It's much more than any of us can do.
Just do what I do with Ben Affleck...Avoid anything she is in, and you'll be fine.
1. It's based on a common situation in American culture, and it showed an alternate decision between abortion and being a drop-out, single mother.
2. I thought her sarcasm was snappy and her timing of delivery was perfect.
3. Her interaction with Bateman had a strange sexual tension throughout. The entire time, I had assumed that Juno and he would hook up and keep the baby with him, turning into his young lover.
4. The entire movie had an awkward tension in which it felt like everything could implode at any given second. Her interaction with Jennifer Garner was very interesting, as they were total opposites and I sensed total disgust radiating from her.
5. I personally have a sense of humor that caters towards the tongue in cheek stuff.
6. the movie is interesting if you enjoy seeing different combinations and the reactions to one another. Every person in that movie has a conflicting personality with one another, minus Bateman and Juno... The human interaction that occurred was genius.
Hard Candy was practically unbearable, and I am a sincere fan of cinema.
That said, I enjoyed Juno. There were overplayed aspects and sterotypes, but I think they were intentional.

I haven't watched Juno yet, though I was kind of interested in seeing it, so I can't make a judgement on it myself yet. But Hard Candy was just fucking awful. It was seriously ridicilous, and unbearable to watch for the most part.
I liked it. I thought it was an adorable movie with really funny points (mom in the ultrasound room) and really sappy points (the tic-tacs in the mailbox)
But I'm a sucker for a chick flick

ok, i just watched it. not a terrible movie i guess. it had some real smart ass little comments and subtleties that made me laugh throughout it. not a real gutbuster or anything, but i don't think that's what it was all about. good girlfriend watching movie. was definitily subtantial times better than hard candy was...
one thing that i dont like about it is that its another remake from an asian movie...dont the writers have original stories to make? and yea...the acting sucked
Yeah, it was a date movie... not bad, but not oscar material imho.
sure it was, worse movies have won oscars in the past. it wasn't really my type of movie, and i can see it wasn't the type of movie many inthis thread were into, but it was a good story. the acting was fairly good, but moreover the story was really well done. it was a life story. shit like that does happen. 16 year old girls do get knocked up, shitstorms ensue, things don't always go as planned, but life goes on bla bla bla. just because i wasn't super in tune with story doesn't mena it wasn't a good one, and they did a good job of telling it.
so my opinion goes like this. was it a good movie? yes. was it a movie i was really excited for, and did the movie excite me any? not really. would i watch it again? not by myself for shits and giggles, no.

What is it a remake of? It won best original screenplay at the Oscar so I took that to mean it wasn't a remake.
Anyway, I don't think it was the best film ever or anything but I enjoyed it and I cried at the end. As far as the acting goes, I thought it was fine but I thought Jennifer Garner was better than the lead actress. Perhaps being a woman that is unable to have a child helps me 'get' her character but I thought she did very well with that role.
