    A warning about networksolutions.com

As of Tuesday, if a user does a search on the site for a domain name, Network Solution immediately registers the domain in their own name. If the user then goes to a discount registrar to register the domain, it shows as unavailable. The user must then either not buy the domain, or go back to Network Solutions and pay their $35/year fee.

Better go somewhere else to check for new domains, people!

They have been idiots since day 1. One of my first noob mistakes was buying domain names there.

The second was hotlinking pics of yahoo when a hun listing melted down my raq3.

Well, the good thing is they will probably only hold the domain for 5 days (which is the period they can use for fraud protection).

But you will still have the problem that somebody else can snatch the domain after it is freed again.

Been posted already but still a good warning. Should almost be a sticky or something. Webmasters everywhere should be aware.

I was late renewing a couple of names and they said the domains went into suspended status and it would be $129.00 each plus renew fees to keep them.

crooks ...... they were shit names anyway

Why would anyone do a search on Network Solutions anyway?

Because not everyone knows his way on the net right away.

LOL, did you see the comments where the guy searched for networksolutionssucksbigdonkeyballs.com on Network Solutions. Network Solutions registered it so he couldn't at a discount registrar - http://networksolutionssucksbigdonkeyballs.com/

                            I'm not surprised.
If memory serves me correct, Network Solutions had all the unregistered .com domains point to a search page of their choice a few years ago.

It's funny how instead of dropping their prices to remain more competative, they still keep their $35 yearly fee. If they dropped down to even $15, they'd keep and attract more customers.
