How Does Runnign For PRESDIENT Work?

So I see people saying Obama will get in others saying Hillary Clinton...

So how does it work? A few people run for the chance to go against the current President? Or is GWB defo out as he's run his term and there's two new candidates? I don't know much about it, wanna know more.

    Tell me.

A candidate runs for nomination of their party. These elections are called primary elections. A primary election is an election in which voters in a jurisdiction select candidates for a subsequent election (nominating primary).

Read about Primary Elections Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_election

You can run as an Independant candidate, but you won't be President.

The nominations of each party and any independents run against each other in the General Election.

A President can serve only 2 terms (8 years) and then can not run again.

I was reading about the Presidential Succession on WikiPedia and it's pretty fucked up if you ask me. Take a look at it:
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_..._of_succession

I mean God forbid something happen to the USA where you know some disaster, or attack that incapacitated the top 5 in the USA, look who would head our country in the 6-7-8 position. #10 is especially spooky to me, The Secretly of House & Urban Development. I mean It's very very unlikely anything happen to our Top leaders, but in the event of a major attack that crippled the USA, shouldn't the leadership fall on one of the top General's in the Army? They would know more about our defense than someone who's over Housing etc..

          It's pretty interesting reading.

You have to be a major liar, enjoy kissing ass, willing to take bribes, and have no morals at all. It also helps if you are a megalomaniac and have severe psychological disorders. Most people worthy of leading the US are way too moral to run and stand a chance to win (see Ron Paul).
