Alcohol Question- Mixed Drinks

So I've got ulcers and I've had to cut back my drinking. My main drink as some of you know is a Whiskey Sour, which is a big no no both on the whiskey and on the sour mix.

Now I'm not being stupid and drinking it up all the time, but every now and then when I go out I'd like to order a drink. What are some good liquor mixed drinks that don't involve citrus, soda or whiskey?

I've been doing Kir Roayles and when I can't get that doing vodka and cran, but I really don't dig it that much. Suggestions appreciated.

kir is champagne and creme de cassis

im pretty sure that the grapes in the champagne and the gas and the citrus in the creme de cassis have the same effect as any other mix

It's a Bison Vodka (Zubrowka - vodka with a special grass in it)
mixed with apple juice. That's freakin' taste of heaven

Is there citus in creme de cassis? If there is I'm sure it's negligable. Pretty much I can't do sour mix / lemon juice / lime juice/ orange juice etc.

I just did some searches for Zubrowka on google and I believe you shouldn't have problems with ordering it within the US. Highly recommended

Its called a shipwreck, 2 shots of malibu, shot of midori, the rest is half orange juice / half pineapple juice, with a splash of grenadine at the end. Best drink ever for taste

Or if you want something sweeter and milk based - a German Chocolate Cake. It's Creme De Cacao, Coconut Rum, and Milk.
Basically the opposite of a whiskey sour :p

I love irish cream. I'm a fan of car bombs too but a guiness is like a sandwich in a can / fills me up too fast. I drink 2 and I feel like I've got to settle down.

vodka, Kahlua, Irish cream, and cream.

Vodka + Sodas? That usually goes down easy if its not too strong. The clear booze is easier on the system as well.

Having bartended for a bit of time, this is what I got to offer:

Like was mentioned - a white Russian, Vodka Cranberry (not "Cape Cod"/"Cape Codder" as those are garnished with a lime wedge), Gin or Vodka Martinis, Amaretto Chocolate Milk, Brazilian Monk, Most Coffee drinks (Mexican Coffee, Irish Coffee, Kahluah and Coffee, Kioki Coffee, Bailey's and Coffee... thought might wanna do decaf as I'm sure coffee's not good for ulcers, either), Abbot's Dream, June Bug (might have a splash of OJ in it, depending on where you order one), Kinky Orgasm, Screaming Orgasm, Buttery Nipple, and a Moo Moo.

There's also a variety of cordials that you can drink straight up.

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head - but I'm sure there are plenty more.

White Russians are good, and so long as you don't mind a "bit" of soda, I think a "Colorado Bulldog" is really a fine drink - which is, essentially, a white russian with a splash of coke. Sounds weird, but the splash really adds a new, tasty
element to the drink.

The most important thing for you with an ulcer, I'd imagine, is to never drink on an empty stomach... always keep at least a bit of food in your stomach with every 30 mins of time you spend drinking.

Also - I'm sure you know this already - but try to avoid smoky bars. cig smoke hampers ulcer healing, too.

Of course, if you ever want those ulcers to heal, you should probably just go a bit of time without drinking all-together.

Good advice. I'm still not exactly sure what's wrong with me, but ulcers are part of it. It's been roughly a year now that I've been dealing with it. I don't have h. pylori ulcers, they can't figure out why I'm getting them and so far they can't get them to go away.

I've only drank a very small amount in the last year, probably 3 or 4 times tops, and just a small amount / haven't been getting wrecked or anything. Also quit smoking back in feb. My diet's changed, pretty much my whole lifestyle changed. There's alot of stuff I can't eat anymore like lettuce. I never knew how much I ate lettuce until I got it taken away

It's been a rough year, but I'm definatly doing alot better. I'm no longer "accute" and have moved on to being "managable" last month. I'm pretty happy about that, but it also means they don't try as hard to find out what's wrong. "Que Sera"
