Sure DivX has shown the way, no doubt XviD will be taking over completely soon though. The warez scene has already replaced DivX with XviD because of it's superior quality and lower file size and don't you think the rest of the world will follow as always?

I wonder how bad this technology is going to hurt the mainstream entertainment world..

Bootleggers have been releasing perfect Academy Award Screener versions of movies over the internet for years now..
Usually the bootlegs are released while the movies are still in theaters..

In the past huge file sizes & slow connections have contained the situation.. Now the general public has the option to burn a DVD instead of making a trip to Blockbuster..
