After Adobe bailed on Apple users the first time with Premiere, I switched to Final Cut Pro.

I love Adobe, and use their products for most everything else, but I don't wish to be burned again, so I am a FCP devotee - and I love that they added Shake to their Pro product suite (BTW, the same person helped produce both Premiere and Final Cut Pro).

More people use PCs than Mac, but a large number of creative types use Mac (and the market share is increasing), and for that reason alone, hopefully Adobe will respect it's loyal Mac fan base.

CS3 is a great advance especially for HD and multi camera work..Cannot fault it yet

for budget users Sony Vegas offers great alternative but personally i find the timeline working fussy and inacurate

What we use, what is best and what is simple are all different things ...

depends on what your trying to achieve .. if all you want is to cut WMV's or Mpegs then A lower level program like sony vegas willl do the trick .. but if you're gonna need something wih more Punch then you need to be looking at some real time cards rather then just a platform ... Software can't do it all alone .. you need the right hardware to go with it .. It's easy to say FCP is the best .. but without the right HArdware FCP is just an imaging softwAre nothing more .. the same can be said of Abobe ...

                  Rephrase you question ...

What type of editing Platform and hardware do you find most useful for your product?

Personally I like using Matrox real time products. Matrox combines it's hardware with ADobe .. and in the last year it's made some awesome improvments. The New Matrox RTX.2 is the way to go. Realtime HD editng, with the new bundle, CS3(photoshop and premiere, on location ..etc) you can Color correct pre capture! also the new cs3 bundle and RTX.2 real time card allows for mutlipule camera edits.. if your in the market for an HD ready suite I strongly suggest you look at the MAtrox rtx.2 before any apple product. Dollar for dollar you can get much more out of build it yourself system like the RTX.2 with say a dual or quad P4, min 2 gig ram ...etc

If your going with apple I suggest the G5 Quad processor fully loaded FCP pro ...

does that help ya out any ?

Sony Vegas seems to handle just about all of our needs and it's simple to use.

                      am thinking about doing that
never used FCP much, but the little I saw with it
and how it's got lots of software in one package and not having to get several softwares. could be gonna get mac just for it.. will see since never really used a mac except few times I played with FCP

I'm a long time Premiere Pro (CS3) user and I like the Aspect HD plugin that has some features to streamline hdv editing. Never found the need for any hardware capture cards. I use a bunch of external firewire hard drives connected through a firewire hub and that connects to the firewire port on the computer.
