me. cause my pc was constantly being infected with spyware, i had to run a personal firwall, anti-virus software, and without fail always had to re-install at least once every 6 months (however i generally found it easier to just buy a new system every 6 months).
I love my mac, took a month or so to really get used to it and get advanced with things like contextual menus and application replacements for things like excel (appleworks is 70 bucks and really does everything office does unless you have some undying need for microsoft products or extremely high end spreadsheet formulas), the junk mail filter is amazing, and safari is imho a superior browser to ie6 for pc (although it's still beta, so it has a few quirks).
Rendezvous networking is great, much easier to set up than any kind of MS system and really these machines are virtually hack proof.
But best of all? I have a unix shell to work on! I program and play with databases all day anyways, so now i have mysql, php, perl and all the unix tools at my disposal without having to log into a secure shell somewhere remote.
Not to say that there arent some minor sacrifices (e.g. some software just doesnt have a mac version, so i run virtual pc which is definitely slower than a real pc)... however, overall i am extremely pleased and would recommend the switch.<a href="http://www.adultplatinum.com/"><img src="http://www.adult.com/wmbanners/10dcash-468x60.gif"></a> -
I've tried that in the past, but it was just easier to go out and buy a PC and dedicate it to that. But...since doing so, I find myself on the PC waaaaaaaay to much. I just ordered a new Powerbook this morning and can't wait for it to arrive.

I love that site. My girlfriend has a collection of old Macs, and we're always looking for more. Especially a 20th Anniversary model.Comment

Nope...just the 15. While tooling around on line today, I ran into an old friend who just sold me his two year old G3 Powerbook Pismo for $200. And it works...just my luck. 4 hours after deciding to shell out for the new one I come across this one. For about $400 more I can put it right in line with the new ones. Just not as pretty. Still can't wait though...maybe I'll give the TiBook to my girl for V-Day.Originally posted by bigdog

We've got the second level G4 with the dual processors. I bought a PC aournd the same time for much less Athelon XP 2000 and the Mac blows it out of the water on everything. Office and the Adobe and Macromedia program wiz right by their PC counterparts. I am biased, but I swing both ways...PC and Mac, so I've got even more ammo for conversions ;)
It's time to switch my friend.
