    Router configuration question

My friend needs some ports opened up on his router and cant do it, lol. I can't drive to him. Is there anyway I can login to his router? He said he would give me his login and password, his IP, anything I need if I can figure out how.

    Thanks

Pretty sure you have to setup one of those remote desktop deals and log on to his pc and then onto his router. you can't remotely do just the router. I'm not 100% sure on that so i guess i shouldn't even comment but that's my

usually on the home routers you can get to the configuration page of the router by going to

      http://192.168.1.1

      hope that helps!

yeah, that's why you can't do it remotely. That's how you get into any basic router. If you get into his pc remotely, then you can access his router.

Yea, lol. So use remote desktop connection and login like I would as if I were on the network. Gotcha. and I think netgear or seimens does 192.168.0.1 ;)

A lot of routers have an option that you can enable remote access on port 8080 or something similar on the external IP. He would need to enable that option to allow you to access. Have him check the documentation, or browse around in the web control panel looking for an option like that.
