    External Harddrive Problem - Need Some Help

    hola peeps.. new client sent me a bunch of content on a USB external harddrive.. COOL i thought.. this will be a easy gig i thought.. well woke up this am and now the computer is not recognizing the harddrive and is making a clunking sound when i boot up the harddrive.. my device manager shows it there but when i log in under my computer dosen't show it.. also in my sys tray i get a safely remove hardware icon....any ideas.. or is this harddrive screwed??

    Pop out of the case and try it just pata/sata... Might be an internal fan, or something twacked inside the case hopefully, Ive had that happen with a few cases.

        Possibly the hard drive has failed as that noise in indicative of that happening.
        You might have to send it in to a professional data recovery service to have data recovered for you

            Make sure you are using the additional power supply that comes with it. Not just trying to plug it into a USB in the back and hoping for enough power.

            Sometimes the MOBO USB's have enough power to supply an ext HD, but not always. Best to use the extra plug in to make sure it has enough juice.
