Anybody else having problems with FTP???

For the last couple of days I can't seem to keep FTP connected.

Are you implying that everyone uses the same host as you?

After reading the sig... I have to say I'm a lil worried.

I guess I should have dumbed my question down a little.

I didn't put my host or my location because I know that problem is with some very particular routers on the internet. I was just curious if anyone knew what the problem was and how many other people are possibly being affected by it.

Since you aren't in my location or trying to get to my host, you may not be affected. Unless the routers in question are far enough up-stream that they are affecting a lot of people.

But I guess I had to spell that out for you.

In fact, I do have the same problem.

I live in Northern California and connect through a small unknown of DSL company that comes free to everyone in our community.

My problems include being able to stay connected to server for any length of time. Uploading or downloading is a chore and needs to be restarted a number of times.

I've played with different servers in many different locations, and even different FTP clients.

My connection went down for an afternoon about two weeks ago, and for a few days my problem cleared up. Earlier today it returned.

I really believe my problem is because I have an unkown DSL company.

Looks like you guys got hardware firewall installed at your provider and you cannot use ftp now. Just try to set "passive" mode and I hope it helps.

If I was concerned about my location I would be using an anonymous proxy, my domain listings would be different, I wouldn't be using a static IP, I would have a username that is a little more anonymous, etc.

Also, my location has nothing to do with my internet access. I could be with the phone company DSL, TimeWarner, Cox Cable, a T1 with Sprint, or even DishNetwork. All of which would have different routes out of Austin.

As for my firewall settings, no nothing has changed.
