    Needed! Designer! Specs inside

First off... look at my sites. I don't need flash or anything fancy at all. I need simple teen sites, laid out in nearly the same fashion as you seem most of them now. I dont need any extensive graphic work or anything other then what you see on the sites. For all I care... you can copy the html and add a couple things here and there and it wold work perfect for what we need.

This will be an ungoing project that has a large site element to it as well as serveral small elements. It would require weekly updating and members area construction

You need to be 100% reliable and I have to count on you to do exactly what you say you are going to do, when you say you are going to do it. You would expect that of me so I will expect that of you. If you can not do that, then dont waste our time.

Once you have looked over our sites... send me an icq... It would be a huge benefit if you lived in Michigan, but it not.. please live in the states. All our instuctions will be given over the phone so that would just work better if you lived in the states.

As you can see I need someone that is ready to work and commited to seeing a project through in a timely manner. No part timers or guys building sites on there lunch break please. I will want to work on a salary basis also.

    Serious inquiries only.

    Jeff

SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

Based on your description, you're talking about Adult Worker, however it's not USA based. If you can replace phone by ICQ, then that will be exactly what you're looking for

Yeah.. thanks, but that won't work really. Icq is just to time consuming and leaves to much to chance.

I think I am just going to run a help wanted add in the papar. To bad.. I would have figured there would have been someone in here that wanted a good paying stready income.

We had a site design project that this very talented designer bid on. He took some time and really tried to give us the best deal he could. He did put forth a very impressive effort. However, he was still a bit on the high side and his designs.. while amazing stuff, was a bit over the "amateur" site styles we thought we needed. He could have done that without a problem, but I just felt I needed a strong amature feel. Nothing against this guys abiity.. He is an AMAZING designer!

Since he had went the extra mile and put in the work on this quote I wanted to try to do something with the guy and I did have a project that was looming that would fit his style. I told him about the project and made it clear that I would not be able to do anything on it till after Vegas. Since our return from Vegas (11 days ago), we have been overwhelmed with HUGE projects and this "project" that I had offered him has taken a back seat to more pressing issues. Could not have helped that at all.

I still wanted to do the project and had planned on him doing it. It just had to wait. Nothing to do with him or anything else... It just had to wait. I never blew the guy off and never stiffed him I never did anything to the guy except not get back to him as fast as he would have liked. The project is still there and I still wanted him and was planning on him doing it for us. His post tonight came out of left left field. Why someone would try to discredit a pontential large customer or even a small one for that matter on an open forum is beyond me.

His gripe with me is he feels it is unprofessioanl to not get back to someone right away or to reply to there icq's... I agree.. to an extent, but since I am a one man shop right now and my time is very limited I have been focusing on other far more pressing issues. I made this clear in one of my last icq's to this fine designer. I think he took my lack of timely responses as an insult to him and his abilities. Simply not the case.

I'm truly sorry this did not work out for you in the time frame you desired. Sorry... really i am.

Well Nympho let's hear this story already because I am getting interested in this job, I live in Chicago driving distance from Michigan and I think you can tell from my portfolio that I more than qualify, plus I have the time also coming up and the studio.

So Nympho please let's hear your warning already please or quit harrassing the man!

There is no harrassment involved, Ironhorse. I'm just tired of people being dishonest and doing business without integrity.

Although he is complimenting me here, Jeff is not as innocent as he claims. I can and will provide icq logs that will substantiate his dishonesty if push comes to shove.

First off he wanted mockups - designs for free. I explained that I didn't work for free but would provide him with a detailed proposal that would outline my approach to the project after I was provided with more specs - which I always do as part of the preliminary steps in solidifying the scope of a project in preparation of drafting a solid contract.

I spent a considerable amount of time with him shifting my other obligations, answering his many questions and then sent him a detailed proposal in good faith as he seemed extremely interested in giving me a multi-site project that needed to be completed right away. The proposal was geared towards the visual and conceptual direction that he was completely pushing for. When I followed up with him the next day, he indicated that he had changed his mind on the direction and now wanted to go a more amateur direction. I said that would be no problem and I would discount my fees even more based on the less design-heavy approach he now wanted to pursue.

After communicating with me that he still wanted me to do the sites and would contact me as soon as he got to his office so we could go over the new simplified specs - he was just about to leave home, I discovered a post that he had made on GFY that implied that he had given away the project (that he just had essentially given to me). Sure, it's his perogative, but the chain of events left a lot to be desired. When I followed up with him again he admitted that he had given it to another designer but that he had another project that he really wanted me to do that he would pay even more for. Incidentally, despite what he says about my pricing, I communicated to him on several ocassions throughout this process that I am always willing to match prices within reason.

So he dangled this new carrot (project) in front of my nose telling me he was ready to get started on it. The when he didn't follow through, I followed up again, only to be told that the date he would be ready to start had been pushed back. No problem, as I explained to him, I was simply trying to pencil in my schedule as is unfortunately necessary when freelancing. Long story short, he kept putting it off, not replying and never communicated as he stated here. As a matter of fact he did not reply to my numerous inquiries (which were also a sign of my good faith despite having reserved time for him - and making him aware that I was doing so - that he didn't even have the decency of notifying me would not be necessary as his timeline had again changed when he returned from Vegas). Again, I have the icq logs to show his brushing me off and lack of replies. Yet, one can clearly see how many posts he made regarding trivial bullshit on GFY during the same time that he was supposedly so busy that he could not even reply to me to tell me that the project was again delayed.

In the end, it is not the fact that a project was given to another designer or the numerous delays - all of which are par for the course - it is Jeff's clear disregard for any consideration of my time, his unprofessional smoke and mirrors and lack of straight honest communication that made me feel a responsibility to warn other designers when I saw him seeking more - especially when he has the audacity to state that the designers he desires should have qualities that he himself has been unable to demonstrate. I understand that this is often the price of doing business, but he was dishonest and in retrospect seemingly trying to get something for nothing and I wanted to be sure other designers have this information with which to make their own decision as to whether to work with him or not.

                              Sorry Jeff,
After considering your specs and pay for the project over ICQ, I've decided the following...

For a total of 7 Paysite designs + monthly updates @ a grand total of $1500.00/month... It would take me a little over a year to recoop the design time that it would take to develop these sites for you.

It sounds like a good offer for someone who can't make $1500.00 in a month, but, if you're looking for an expierenced designer @ that rate, I can only wish you the best of luck finding one willing to take you up on your offer.

                              Cheers none the less.
