    calling all techies

My cousin just called me, he turned on his computer and at the login.XP says his password is wrong. What could cause that, he is typing it in correctly.

Maybe attempt to login through safemode.. then try to do a system restore to
    before when this happened.

Double check the caps lock, if it doesn't help restart in safe mode and login as administrator, then go to Control Panel and change the password of that user.

I am sure this trick was played to change his password, btw.

          Hope it helps.

search for xp password reset. There is a bootable cd you can download and burn that will allow you to remove any xp startup password.

                  Restart the computer.

Hold down F8 as it boots.

Use the cursor keys, and choose safe mode.

When it gets to the Windows screen, press ctrl-alt-del.

Type 'Administrator' as the user, leave password blank.

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Users.

Select his user, and remove password.

                  Start, Shutdown, Reboot.
