help with freebsd server, please

anybody know what this means and how to fix it?

try adding kern.maxfiles=25000 to your /etc/sysctl.conf

then /sbin/sysctl -p

should fix it. looks like whoever installed your os, didnt tune it

sysctl: illegal option -- p
usage: sysctl [-bdehNnox] variable[=value] ...
sysctl [-bdehNnox] -a

sysctl kern.maxfiles=25000

(keep it in sysctl.conf) it will load on boot

server12# sysctl kern.maxfiles=25000
kern.maxfiles: 7944 -> 25000

whatever it does, it seems to have fixed a particular connectivity problem I've been having since about 2pm yesterday
