upgraded phpbb version and got more spam

I upgraded to the phpbb version on my board to 2.0.22 and it seems like I get even more spam now. I think the spam is mostly human entered from low labor rate regions and not script based. Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions out there?

There quite a few anti spam mods in the phpBB support forums, usually takes a combination of 2-3 to stop spam bots.

Take a look at this topic on the subject..it has a list of anti spam mods that work very well.

I replaced the default phpbb captcha with an improved version and picked some weird ass fonts and the problem pretty much went away.
