    Real World Computer Question.... Proc speed

    Hello GFY,

    I currently have a p4 2.8gig laptop...


    How much faster... in Reality...

    Would a Duo Core 2.0gig be?


    I know you guys will all have great opinions and advice for me...

    My main use for my laptop is for Video editing, music recording and editing, and some games.

      i guess you mean the core duo "T2500" which is a 667mhz FSB. i have not used this processor specifically so i can only give you a close comparison.

      rendering VOB to XVID/MP3 on p4 3.0 i was getting in the neighborhood of 20FPS. when i moved from p4 to pentium d i bumped that to about 28FPS. when i upgraded to the core2duo - e6600 at 2.4ghz im getting closer to 40FPS.

      if you can find a laptop with the core2duo rather than the core duo you can increase the FSB from 667 to 800/1066/1333.
