ccbill: 4 chargebacks from same subscriber

got 4 chargebacks from the same subscriber... looks like the guy was able to charge back 4 times while he only had 1 subscription, all 4 chargebacks happened in the same minute, for the same site. Never happened to me before, I already contacted the sponsor (no answer yet) but i think this is more an issue for ccbill?

The most likely reason for this is, 1 subscription, and the guy rebilled 3 times.

His wife finally noticed the charge, confronts him, and he said "I didn't make that charge", so the card issuer issues 4 charge backs (1 for the initial & 3 for the rebills) without question.

yep the only reason i can give is for the rebills.

had one guy charge back on 4 rebills and one sale worth 22$ each to me

aha, well that sucks.. he joined in october so i guess i should thank him for only doing 4 chargebacks instead of the whole 5

There is 1 chargeback for every membership cycle, so if you have a member with 1 trial that has rebilled 3 times you will get 4 chargebacks.

The worst is when the member access a site multiple times, downloads everything, never emails for an problem, then charges back

I had the exact same thing happen once but it was 4 charge backs from the same guy on two diffrent sites. Was pretty fucked up when you think about it, because the guy signed up to both sites within 2 mins and each rebilled twice.

You would have thought 2 trasactions from the same card within 2 mins of each other would have rung a bell or two..

That sucks. Surfers should not be allowed to chargeback more than once. If it was a transaction that shouldn't have happened, then they should notice on their bill the first month. Webmasters shouldn't have to pay for peoples lack of responsibility.

This is true and I totally agree.

Anyone with a merchant/3rd party knows the risks involved in taking cards online and understands that chargebacks happen.

I think we can all agree that the huge financial benefits from accepting cards online far outweighs (99 to 1 at least!) the bad apples out there.

Now imagine if we *ALL* spent 5% of our income fighting idiot surfer chargebacks to the point that the industry average was under 0.01% - now you can see the long term benefits of that extra 0.99% on your bottom line, every week of every month of every year - forever!

Just had the same exact problem on ccbill for Sweet Apples. 4 chargebacks from the same guy. Wonder if it is the same guy that did 4 chargebacks to you.
