    Graphix Software Help Please

What software do I need to learn to do some stuff like this? I don't think this is Photoshop, lord i hope it ain't Photoshop because it looks like a TON of work in Photoshop. I just wanna make some cool 3D scenes like this in whatever software as a quick learning curve, i can do the rest in Photoshop.

I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

Most likely a combination of 3dsmax and ps.

Xara is the most underated graphix software of them all. I used to use it to do some basic stuff like text envelope shapes, then Photoshop came out with that so i never got Xara X.

DX is right i'm sure, one of the popular 3D programs made up the bulk of the basic shapes in that design i posted. I'm just looking for the one that is the easiest to learn.

also cost is a bit of an issue, i'm not going to spend 700 dollars on something i'm not going to use that much. I can always 'sample' from other wallpapers i find on the web

not sure what the legality of that is, i see lots of design work with stuff 'sampled' from various other places. I once saw a pretty heated debate about it on a graphics board. Anybody know what the law is on that kind of thing......... i.e. you create a design which has a lot of collage work in it, you want say a pocket watch in it to represent 'time' .......... so you go to Google image search and search for 'pocket watch', how illegal is it to use that photo/illustration in your own design?

and cheesy, good design uses stock photos or pics that you take and/or you could illustrate the needed items

as far as the 3d image it looks like 3d studio max or maya neither are cheap

but of course you can use it and it probably falls under "fair use"

i'm not actually sure about that quiet, i'm not sure if an artist noticed in a magazine ad or a CD cover some object lifted from a work of art he created if he would prevail in court.

i'm not sure what 'fair use' means applied to situations like that.

in music the same type of thing has been in the courts, especially with the introduction of digital music and rap where lots of sampling of other people's work goes on. Think there have been some famous cases related to music sampling.

Anybody know what the legalities of musical sampling is? Is there a legal number of bars of a song you can take and add to something you are creating?

mutt... sampling is sampling. must have permission unless it's public domain material.

believe it or not, there's one guy suing another guy over recorded silence.. claiming copyright infringement.

i thought in the music biz there was something where you could include a certain amount(small) of music from some other work and it wasn't illegal. But you are probably right.

i'll ask the question on one of the graphics boards as far as how 'sampling' goes over in the commercial art world.

There are a few websites out there actually that show you ow to do that stuff. I like it as well. Rilose is right 3DMax, PS, and some Bryce is what those guys use, and they layer like a mutha fucka. 130+ layers I hear, on some projects.
