What do you consider a chargeback problem?

I've never had a problem with chargebacks before, they've been below 1% for many, many years. I started sending a little traffic to a new (for me) program in Dec and I was just going over the sales figured for it, 172 new members 5 chargebacks. This site has no shady billing, no cross sells, great members area with loads of video, daily updates, etc. Is that terrible, and would you guys stop promoting the site? Besides the chargebacks it's doing great, almost 60% of trials are becomming monthly members. I'm not sure if I should start promoting it a lot of back off.

I should say 172 joins, not members.

I don't really want to say that here, I don't want to make it look like I'm bashing it or anything. For all I know this could be my fault. Hit me up on icq and I'll tell ya: 177240182

Doesnt seem like too many to me.. maybe its the way you are promoting it? Perhaps TGP traffic charges back more than AVS traffic, or something like that.

Has this site just been launched or pretty new? Maybe it's just some 'experienced' surfers who haven't seen it till you started promoting are signing up then pulling down the content then doing the chargeback dance.

Edited for crimes againest the english language.

It was mostly AVS and SE traffic, and the site has actually been promoted all over the TGPs by other people, it's not a new site. Those are both good points, but hmm, I wonder.

greentea, great blunt encyclopedia, but how can you leave out Century Sam's? They're cheap, available everywhere (in Canada at least), and make a damn fine blunt if you ask me.

that's almost 3% ((5/172)*100) and does seem high to me

do they maybe group refunds in with chargebacks for your stats?

Before you stop promoting it or bash it look closley at where the chargebacks are comming from. Those chargebacks could be from the checking account signups, Alot of people know how to get into sites via checking accounts for free. I have a BIGTIME problem with that shit right now.

Thanks for the suggestion, it will be up in the encyclopedia when we update it.

Good point, I'll look into that, I think it does. Still, 3% is still high even if that includes refunds.

They are all cc joins, no checking account option. I don't give them the check option anymore on any of my sites, and I try not to promote ones that do either.

Leader, 172 joins and 5 chargebacks is a pretty small statistical sample relatively speaking.
If it was 1700 joins and 50 CB's I'd be worried, but you might have just had bad luck with 5 shmucks who got caught by their wives and said "I'VE NEVER BEEN TO THAT SITE"

BTW, you still willing to share some info on that teen movie site you were talking about in another thread? I never got around to getting in touch with you to ask about it.
