    SEO-question..

Lets say blackhat-site and a whitehat-site is hosted under the same IP.

I've heard that the blackhat-site can cause the whitehat-site to get ranked lower in the SEs if it's on the same IP as a banned site. Even if there's no link between these sites.

Will it do the whitehat-site any good if I move it to a unique IP or is it already too late if google have banned the blackhat-site.

Some SEs will forgive you very quickly, some won't. Google will sometimes put you on the "check once a year" list, and the bots won't come back for a long, long time.

If you have that white-hat site and want to improve things, move to the new IP and work on getting more relevant links to your site (in a somewhat natural manner) and give it time.

No one really knows, it's all speculation, but I wouldn't risk it, considering new ips are only a buck or 2 a month....

Google can do and check whatever the hell they want. You have to use your own judgement within reason. The more "safe" you play it, the more time and work its going to take. As for me, I have multiple servers at multiple hosts, all kinds of ip addresses.

You got nothing to lose by keeping it as clean as possible. Black hat tends to be short term. If you want to secure your efforts play true and fair on separate IP's.
