    php on Windows Vista?

anybody knows how to get php and MySQL working on Windows Vista?
i used to work with XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html) on windows XP, but that doesn't seem to work (or i am just too stupid to get it working...)

    thanks

There are other products out there which an all-in-one apache, php, and mysql installer. you should be able to find something on Google.

If i am correct Vista and XP have the same platform so all programs that work on XP should work on Vista and vice versa.
This is what was told to me so could be wrong though but the major difference between Vista and XP is just graphical.

Vista is just XP with a purdy mouth and a built-in "you need a new computer" dll.

That's actually incorrect. There's a hell of a lot of new technology worked into Vista.

i'm not sure if it's Windows Vista that is causing the trouble - it might also be the fact that it comes with IIS 7...

Maybe it has something to do with the Compatibility Mode checkbox in the executable's file properties...maybe try setting it to XP?

                  tried that...
i get lots of errors regarding ports and services...
and after somehow getting the installation done i get several 403 and 404 errors from IIS 7...

The "platform" has been completely rewritten so no, they're not directly compatible... just "mostly".

For example, directx 10 has no dll files.

                          great, WAMP seems to work
although the installation was a little "messy" (installing the services...)
