    Email PI

I don't know how many of you are familiar with a spyware program called "Email PI." A friend of mine who's quite a bit less computer literate than I am (and I'm not techie by a longshot) has been using AdAware to protect from spyware, and recently bought XBlock, one of the better "eraser" programs. Once she ran XBlock, it detected "Email PI" and when we looked this program up, we were quite dismayed. It's a piece of software that is usually sent in an eGreeting Card, resides in your system, and quietly passes along sensitive info to whomever installed it: passwords, chat sessions, and lots of other private things.

The problem is that XBlock finds it on her system every time and although we tell it to eliminate the program, it gets detected the next time.

Anyone know how to rid one's system of this pest?

go to run and type "msconfig" then check startup and see if there are any suspicious programs in there.

There's a program called SpyCop that handles things like that.

Whenever I do that, almost everything looks unfamiliar, and those morons at Microsoft make that window unexpandable, which would allow me to see more info without having to change column sizes around. Grrrrr!!!
