I've personally been using Panda AV for a few years but as the program develops, it gets more and more resource intensive. It's time to fire Panda I'm afraid.
NOD32 is the best for price and usability; Avast is great if you need eye candy and a semi-decent hit rate; AVG is free and works for realtime, email, and scheduled scanning; Symantec CORPORATE is OK, but takes a fuckton of RAM these days. Nothing's worse than Norton Personal and McAfee.
what abouut Bitefender?? ANyone have any info on them? And for info I mean used it or using it. Seems on most comre-antivirus pages, it's usually in top 3
Ive used at least 10 different programs over the years - AVG is still the finest at not taking resources and providing protection
In answer to the Bitdefender question - I used it for about a year - it was great for email scanning, but sucked for online autodownloaders/trojans - and used about 10 times the resources that AVG uses
I have found that using AVG and Spysweeper together running all the time takes very little resources and provides the best coverage - although spysweeper tends to annoy me when it finds something a little more than I like - but then I have it set to inform me when something like a trojan inserted in a movie file is trying to load something
I use Spy Sweeper. I think I bought it at Best Buy. Works great, had one problem with trojans and the program took care of it right away. I never had any problems since I got this program
Trendmicro offers an online scanner that snags all types of virus, spyware/malware, and open exploits on your machine. I use it, overall the best cleaning software in my opinion, and it's free.
Before bed, turn off your screen saver and power savers, go through the small setup needed, and let it run. It scans for a lot of stuff so it takes awhile.
