Wordpress sends pings about the update regardless of the post time so editing the timestamp is kind of worthless unfortunately. It seems to me that there is a plugin that will actually make the scheduled posting work the way it should. It was called cron pinger or something like that.
          I like pie.

Spam Karma 2 or Akismet. Using both, not sure which is better yet.

Cool, I'll take a look at it... would really make it nice and easy to keep stuff up to date. As for my blog, I think my favorite thus far is AdSense Deluxe, makes it much easier to manage AdSense ads without having to edit the template constantly.

Regardless of whether the blog has been updated or not? What are the best places to ping, or do you just ping everyone and everything?

my blogs are always updates twice a day, always

it took me a long ass time to narrow down the perfect ping list, so i keep it pretty private ;)

akismet, drastically reduced the spam comments. its a necessity.

I'm still kinda new to this whole Wordpress thing, but why not just moderate comments? I looked at that plugin but it really sounded like more of a hassle than its worth. Although, I guess I'll have to get some people who want to post comments first before I worry about it... hehe.

Sometimes Google will see the pings as spam, so be careful.
