I have an adult site under development for a client and it is nearing completion... It's about that time to figure out which payment processor we will be using....

I need some good reco's

Verotel, holds money in an escrow account so you won't lose your money even if they tank. I think all processors should do this.
Not that they will tank of course, it's just an extra piece of mind for you and your business.

Hypothetically, if they went out of business, you have a way to get to the escrow account? You know when these companies go, they stop answering phone and emails. If they hold the key to the account, how does it help you if they disappear?

We've been through several in our years online, from WTS, to IBill, our own merchant accounts, CCBill and Verotel. The latter two have been rock solid.... and we don't need to talk about the one from Florida.

As a content owner, I would suggest that you cherry pick the best processors in their respective field, and offer them all.

Whilst credit card is and remains the best method of charging for monthly subscriptions, there are other options
available for you to turn bytes into bucks.

For example, www.localbilling.com are strong and facilitate the ability for example for Germans to pay you by wire.

You should also consider using Premium SMS as a billing tool for trials.
