Have you run the Windows Experience Index yet? You have to run that so that Vista can determine the capabilities of your computer.

If it finds that your computer doesn't have the graphics capabilities to run Aero, then the 3d flip won't be made available to you.

Heh, it won't actually say that to you... it'll just default you to a windows setting that is lower. In your case, it would be the Vista basic theme.

To see the differences in the various themes, click here: http://www.istartedsomething.com/200...-adventure-ui/

Just place your mouse over the theme box under each screen cap to see the difference in how each theme looks.

Vista chooses your theme based on your graphics index.

Is anyone having any issues with drivers? I downloaded their compatibility scanner to see if my PC was up to par and it was other than a few peripheral drivers. Do the XP ones still work because I would really like to give the OS a whirl.
            SIG TOO BIG!

i had to install one driver for a raid card and that went smooth.

on another note, the memory overhead is HUGE compaired to xp
with a fresh xp install i get less than 100mb used, but with vista it's 450mb after boot!

my 64mb video card is not fat enough to support Aero, so it seems.
