Yes. Look at labels. They are one in the same. Send some test emails to yourself and file 'em under a label.

Once you hit archive they are in a "folder". It's the Google folks messing with us.

I want it as yahoo, like you have some emails in inbox you just move them to the folder of your choice

Set up different labels (aka folders).
In your inbox just attach label to whatever emails you want, click archive.
It can be in several folders at once or just one. Your choice.

U can do short cuts, set up assorted other features, etc. Get to know gmail well and it becomes very usefull.
