Everyone has a different opinion on what financial freedom is. For me I want to be able to own a house worth 800k or more. I'd like a few vehicles and the freedom to know I'm set in life so that when unexpected bills come about I will not have to worry. I don't have expectations of tens of millions of dollars. Then again it's better to expect less and gain more.

thats pretty much my view of it too, but im finding even getting to that level is difficult these days. it takes money to make money and sure i make a decent amount now but not near enough to get more profitable ventures off the ground. even getting say 50k cash for a house downpayment is hard.Originally posted by ry0tEveryone has a different opinion on what financial freedom is. Everything is relative - even if you are "wealthy" the comfort level with extra zeros increases and ya just talk higher numbers and progress to more wealth.Originally posted by BlackCrayontrue financial freedom is only achievable by the already wealthy.
Never ever considered money as a route to "freedom" - gimme a fresh coffee and a cigar and I'm happy - there is far more buzz from implementing a sucessful project or business proposition and usually a biproduct of this means more money.XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment

you can find opportunities in your hardship. there is an opportunity in every situation
when i was a young kid awhile back i worked sales in an electronics store. when people would come in with broken equipment all the salesmen would run away and not want to help them because they were afraid that would take away from their time on the sales floor thus they wouldn't make any money selling stuff.
then one day i was with the top salesman and he taught me a valuable lesson. instead of ignoring these people who came in for help and not wanting to buy stuff he would help them with their broken equipment and leave the sales floor.
he would "waste his time" to help these people complete some papers to get the equipment sent out to the manufacturer and fixed and in the process he would use the fact that the equipment failed to upsell them on additional warranty which he would make a massive amount of commission on.
he looked for opportunity in problems and thus was very successful. for every door that closes, one opens. i learned from that.

I believe that you achieve what you set yourself to achieve.
Without goals, you get nowhere and you get there fast. Don't compare yourself to others, compare your own performance as you go.
If your goal is to have $50,000 for a downpayment on a house, see where you're at now, set a goal for it and a DEADLINE to reach it. Then do everything in your power to get there and focus on it.
I've always said that people have money for whatever they want to have money for. If you want a house, you will have the money for a house. If you want a car, you will have a car. If you want expensive jewelry (hey I am a woman!), you will have your jewelry. If you don't it's because you don't want it bad enough, either you didn't do EVERYTHING you had to do to get it or you wanted something else more.
