    Remote Desktop needed ! ! !

I need a Remote Desktop, so I can connect to my work computers from home and access all of my programs, files, and network resources. I also want to spy on my employees and see what they are surfing and doing while I am out of the office .......

What do you suggest for a remote desktop solution ?

    What about security ?

Do you suggest using a VPN connection or can I just get away with a normal IP address ?

well to connect to your own pc's, if it's xp or nt, "remote desktop" is built in..

    here's a tutorial on it - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...moteintro.mspx

for monitoring your employees, you can install this on your pc/laptop.. and install a "client" version of this on their pc's - http://www.softactivity.com/

it'll let you monitor them in realtime, see their browser history, etc.

You can do it with radmin.
You can't do it with remote desktop as this kicks them off.

Radmin is prolly your best solution as it gives you a watch ability or to take control

you don't need a static IP address but you need to know your PC IP address at all times - I used to connect to a friend of mines PC from here (he lives in the UK) and every time he rebooted (which means got assigned new IP form his ISP) I had to call him to get the new IP

But yet again I'm guessing your IP will stay the same as long as you don't reboot/disconnect (a bit different here becuase the shitty ISP I use resets my connection every 24 hours)

Nothing beats msft remote desktop (terminal services). VNC Is quite ok but slow, and the others cost.

I used remote desktop too, worked really great, used to use VNC on two of my dedicated servers - had trouble with that quite a few times

as far as security is concerned - at least change your router's default username/password, also I remember changing couple of other setting - do some search on Google, can't remember exactly what those setting were

Yeah, you are supposed to change the default port of terminal services to somewhat highten the security. I never could get it to work though

VNC is horribly slow, most scanners look explicitly for it, so you'll have to block it from being removed, and last I looked, TightVNC still had really shitty security.

In a corporate environment, you want radmin, hands down.

That kicks the other user out, you can't use that as it takes control and that is not what he wants.
