Holy fuck, don't do that. I switched over to the fully-modded for a month and it was unbelievable, you'd need a mainframe for the processor and memory it was chewing through. And the users went apeshit with the five billion extra options. It was horrible.

Its a nightmare.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!

phpBB still has a lot of unfixed security holes in it, and a LOT of those holes can give full access to the root server and not just have the application get crapped out. I've seen it happen more than a few times for old clients that wanted to save a few dollars, only to have their dedicated servers totally wiped out.

Nope, know exactly what he's talking about. Simple, basic php knowledge will get you through the installation and modifications. No nightmare there, maybe an hour or two of fiddling around, bout it.

personally, i like Invsion power board. Its sexy, and its easy modding.

Next gen (v2.2) will be out soon, and theyre owrking on a fully integrated CMS to go with it

Why would you need to modify that many files?? Theming and styles were implemented for just that reason.

If a server got totally wiped out you've got waaaaaaaay bigger problems than phpbb being insecure.
