putty, but finally got the esc .wq to work.. may have been something funky happening with my keyboard or something??

Btw dont you have cpanel or any other panel which has crontab?I mean why bother with ssh?

because its just as easy to do it via SSH as it is via "CPANEL". CPANEL is noting but a crappy frontend that costs money
