    Any Mac users around? Question.

This has bother me for some time now.

Why is it when I download a .dmg and the file says, "drag the application to your applications folder to install," I get a message saying, "your applications folder cannot be modified."

I can drag and drop somewhere else, to the software will run, which is why I have never made this an urgent matter.

    Anyone have this happen?

Sounds like permissions are not set properly.
Can you copy any file to the Applications Folder?
Have you run Disk Uttility to repair permissions?

dude, the reason we have a MAC is because we're too stupid to figure shit like that out.
