Seems to work for me, definately speeds up load times even on sites that I've never visited. Is this possible or just my imagination?

Sending your page requests through Google machines dedicated to handling

          This will help

          Google Web Accelerator traffic.
Storing copies of frequently looked at pages to make them quickly accessible.

          This will help

Downloading only the updates if a web page has changed slightly since you last viewed it.

          This will help

Prefetching certain pages onto your computer in advance.

This rarely helps, unless the page only has a couple links.

Managing your Internet connection to reduce delays.

          Maybe a little

Compressing data before sending it to your computer.

          maybe a little

          That's what I would think.

Thanks for the analysis, so overall it sounds good, and I have yet to see a downside and it dosen't cost anything.

Thats the only downside I can think of, what are the privacy concerns with something like this? They now have access to my surfing habits, but so does my ISP, so does it make a difference really?

The google bar tracks everything anyways. They already own us.

Yes, it does make a huge difference. Your ISP doesn't store data about your surfing habits, your searches, your e-mails and whatever else, forever. For now, what Google does may not have an impact on anyone's life. In the future, who knows? Imagine an ill-intended company taking over Google (it's a public company now) and doing all sorts of mischief with the data they have.
