In one year everything will be shot in HDV so bragging "high definition" will sound kinda silly because it would be like bragging current content is "shot in DV" instead of SVHS.
It is simply an extra 200 - 250 lines of resolution after deinterlacing. Any video editor who has a clue can do this anyway. This is nothing new.
And most of these programs are actually showing SD versions of the content anyway.
But if you can squeeze some more signups out of claiming "shot in HD" then congrats.
Oh, and widescreen SUCKS for most porn. - Fucking worst thing ever to happen to gonzo porn. There is a reason most photos are vertical. People are vertical so most shots/positions are better in 4:3 aspect ratio.
To shoot widescreen you really have to plan out your shots to make them look awesome so this is not so great for the typical shit that gets cranked out.
Widescreen was invented for Hollywood movies in order to give the movie goers something they could not get from the new invention called TV. And every detail of every shot of a Hollywood movie is planned out long before production begins. This is not the case with gonzo porn unless you want to put the viewer to sleep.
I think the main reason to shoot in widescreen is for distribution on DVD so that people can watch on their HDTVs without having the picture stretched/distorted. Seems as though everyone has their TVs set to "fill"the entire screen even if shot in 4:3.
Perfect Gonzo argueably shoots the best gonzo porn in the history of mankind and they have not went HDV/widescreen.
