Whats the best Video Encoding Software?

Ive been going through a lot of different video encoding software wanted to see if there any specific ones that you guys use that are really good.

mainly vob to wmv and mpg

Just did some stuff with Adobe Premiere. Pretty good, but unfortunately it is more work than with the average encoding software. However the quality is awesome.

we've been using procoder 2 but it errors out alot on batch ones. have you tested batch vob to wmv with cleaner xl?

never tested vob to be honest, but there's a free trial you can download and test. batch functionality itself works like a charm - even for a week non-stop. i bought it after procoder made me nearly cry for being such a shitty piece of software

yea its been driving me NUTS all week. i even had to format one of the PC's cause for some reason procoder decided to just stop working and getting UNKNOWN ERRORS every time i clicked encode

I have used Procoder 2 thousands of times and cannot remember that ever happening.

Personally I think Discreet Cleaner does the best job on WMV files. I like Sorenson Squeeze for Real Player compression. And since I'm on a Mac, I use Compressor for any Quicktime work.

Are there rippers that can add watermarks during converting? I'm just a newbie when it comes to video editing

Canopus Procoder is the best, convert almost anything to anything and have multi processor support and good filters.

Procoder doing nicely for me
though gotta have lotta memory
else slows down ur pc if yu don't have much
and crash the job running if system slows down cause of multiple applications running

else.. get a bunch of batches running and let it go
don't have to worry about it

i had problems with procoder before.. i cant use stylish watermarking on that software.. like using .png formatted logo and use it as watermark in procoder... i dont know if the higher version of canopus procoder can do that already...
but if its just for encoding/converting, canopus is good.... right now.. im using sorenson squeeze for batch encoding... and i like it...

Yeah Cleaner XL or ProCoder. I use both, never had any problems with either.

it only lets you use bitmap on procoder 2

I like Ulead Media Studio Pro - it has awesome real time rendering & works great with HD!!
Their "easy version" VideosStudio is pretty good too.
