wow,
im catholic and belive in miracles just never experenced one until last night.
i have a 2 yr old daughter (on 8-25) well, last night around mid-night and i had taken something away from her. she was sitting on the floor (hardwood), when she got mad she threw her head back and smacked it on the floor. naturaly she started screaming and with in 20 secs she was gasping for air and gurgaling. her eyes hazed over with a purple color. they rolled to the back of her head and went limp. she wasnt breathing. i screamed for her daddy. he came and tried to wake her up. we jumped in our car and headed for the hospital.we live less then 100 yards away. im not a dr. but i know when my child is with me and she wasnt. the whole way to the hospital i was giving her mouth-to-mouth. the whole time praying and thinking the worst, "am i going to bury my child". right b4 we get to the hospital she comes back, she was breathing and responsive. i dont know what happened but i do know that god answered my prayers.

p.s the dr said she passed out from crying. she has cried worse and nothing happened. any opinions.....

If she fell over backwards, then she prolly hit that back of her head. That is where the most primitive part of the brain lays... soley responsible for breathing. (i'm from seattle) that's why during an earthquake we've always been told to cover the back of our heads while underneath our school desks.

First and foremost, I'm happy your baby is fine. It seems odd that it would be passed out for so long if it just hyperventilated (which is what it sounds like the doctor described).

I'm happy for you she turned out ok but please...god does not exist and has nothing to do with it. You gave her mouth to mouth, not god. And if god helped her coming back why would he let her stop breating in the first place??

That has happend to my daughter like 5 times already . That happens when they throw tantrums. Best thing to do is blow air in their mouths. This is the scariest thing that can happen to a parent when they dont know what it is from. Eyes roll back body goes limp like they are dead then like in ten seconds they ar back to normal.

5 times... god i'd go crazy by them. when my daughter went limp, first i thought to call 911 but then i said, i'd get to the hospital alot faster then they'd get to my house since we live 2 minutes from there so i drove there as fast as i could. it was a scary thing.. Thank god she's ok.

before you're about to take something away from her, ask her if you can.... never ever force anything away from her hands without her agreement (unless it is something dangerous)... and you should take her to an expert for a check up... sorry to hear that about your kid, dont blame yourself, and thanks god everything turned out fine... a lesson to learn here

thanks for ur advice but she grabbed a fork and was running around. we are taking her to All Childrens, the best childrens hospital sround the bay area, thanks for everyones replys.

all we know is that life is precious and to never take it for geanted....god or no god. everyones has their rights to there opinions and thats fine and we have ours. waking up every morning is great. it was a life altering experience.

I never heard of something like this. As a parent myself, (16 month child, my first) i think i would feak out so bad i would faint myself and fall right right next to him...lol. I can't even fathom my reaction let alone imagine the fear.

Tell me something. When you say blow air into their mouths, what do you mean by that? Are you saying to start the process of mouth to mouth (a more aggressive burst of air with your mouth on the toddlers mouth), or just a gentle blow of air (mouths not touching, but blowing gently into their mouths)?
I'm really curious and hope you can expand a bit more if you don't mind.

And finally, not sure if you would know this, but i noticed that you mentioned your daughter. At the same time, Nessa mentioned a daughter as well. Do you know if this happens more with females then males?
