It could also be a case of a normal page being replaced by a spyware/virus filled one. An ounce of prevention and all that.

For those of us who've made the switch, we could very well be posting links that we don't know have popups / spam / spyware on them, because our browsers aren't affected. The only solution is to protect yourself, and join the Firefox horde! Besides, it's a thousand times the browser IE ever was.
