    HD content, why?

I understand the 16:9 dimension, and the big size...However, I noticed the bitrate is often 5800kbps...Why this bitrate? Isn't 2000KBPS not enough?
    Questions?

Start selling DVDs worldwide and selling to the statelite market and watch your revenue go through the roof.

HD is not needed for the web. Fuck it you could probably make a video that is good enough for the web on one of the new camera phones.

You can't have a 2Mb/s bit rate when the video size is 1280x720. I just would be good enough quality. DVDs have a bitrate from 3-9Mb/s and the size is smaller than the 1280x720. The problem with these huge bitrates is the file size.

At UCV, we've found that using 3.6Mb/s is a good number to use. The quality is outstanding and the file sizes aren't too large.
It's better when you can Switch.

This is the future! People started to buy HD tvs. It's been one year we are producing all of our material in HDV. That's what the market needs.

HD is definately needed. When you watch HD video on some sites then you go back to regular HQ video its like night and day. This is the future of the web, in a couple years or so, if you dont have HD, you will be left behind.

I definately feel that HD is the future, however I would like to see it incorporated with mediacenters etc, because it is more for HDTV plasma's and LCD then it is to watch and enjoy behind your PC.

You need to learn encoding well.It takes some time for best performing.
The difference in quality is uncomparable. And the file size is even smaller if you do it right!
Its a second year we shoot only in HDV format and must admit that first 3 months were hard , we had about 5% members who couldnt watch the movies at all so we had to spend much more time and provide old format too but its all history now, zero complaints in last 12 months, all players are running it and with right encoding even old celerons play it without any problems.

every single movie, television show, news boradcast, DVD, etc, etc will be in HD - even your "rabbit ear" television will be a digital signal boradcasting in HD, it will in fact be mandatory for every broadcaster. It is the future, its already been decided.

I didn't think it would make much difference but started pushing mayormoney recently and the hd coverts like crazy! So my answer is it will make you more money!

Leave HDV alone and walk away. It will never sell. Nothing to see here guys.
