    messing around with my rebel this weekend, and I realized that I can max expose for 30 sec ...had to bring in the flashlight and snap at 1600...

                                                                                                                                                              Your rebel has a bulb setting that will allow it to hold open for hours. Just get a canon remote switch and lock it so you dont have to hold the shutter open with your hand.
