Aren't people born knowing HTML now? This seems like such a rediculous topic, especially around the experienced webmaster pool, that is GFY. I'd thoroughly recommend buying a book about HTML before opening yourself to the onslaught of idiot savants here.

That's basic elementary stuff which is taken for granted - much like a brain surgeon is expected to know how to operate on the brain before discussing the finer detail
Tip.. read and test as much as possible till you write code without thinking - also, if code is a mish-mash in an editor, clean it up into sections to make it readable so you can understand what it is.

my mind is one that gets easily distracted so when they is alot of text and I am working on more than one notepad i get confused. - maybe you boy wonders have the art of concentration, but i certainly dont.

like xerex said Dreamweaver mx is a great choice if you just don't want to hand code.
