    Physicist: Programs run the universe

    http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1103-966663.html

Wolfram believes the universe is composed not of particles and waves, but of simple tiny programs. He believes these myriad programs, or algorithms, give rise to physical phenomena as fundamental as space and as complicated as human beings.
(I can not take credit for this one, ED is the one who ICQ'd it to me! )

A program needs something to run.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

Its a shame when people confuse the model for the real thing in the world that it models. Algorithms are great for prediction, but suck for explanation.

"No one can be told what the Matrix is" - god I hate that shit. It's a nice idea of how the universe works, but I thought about it when I was programming at 7 years old, so it's nothing new, I'm sure. And, they obviously can tell people what the matrix is, because the movie told us, and I told my thoughts of this idea to more than a few people. I guess it had to be mysterious for the movie to work, though...
