avoid trading with certain scripts - must read

i see alot of trade scripts (TTT being one) that are based on the HTTP REFERER header... well, alot of the time it is probably not counting the traffic you are sending (and thus not giving you an equal load back)

this is becuase Norton security (and other software) disable the sending of this header in both Firefox and IE (that i've found so far)

be sure to only trade with scripts that pass variables in the url, for example...

    example-tgp.com/in.php?id=me

    not just...

    example-tgp.com

otherwise who knows how often the traffic is running Norton and other stuff.. they wont be counted as coming from you.

some do... i have seen /from?= on the end of a few i trade with...

but yeah not many... thats why this is so worrying... how many people are running Norton or other shit that disables the header?? that traffic is just going to waste.

Well they would regardless because they don't rely on headers but a direct variable.

There's issues with everything, there is no perfect method..

With using the headers, you lose those that block them.. but they're probably also blocking cookies so the traffic isn't great for trading. But you're able to use htaccess to block hotlinking of the IN script.

On the other hand, letting your trades link to the script opens you up for hotlinking etc. and although you'll count more of the INs, If they're not clicking or have cookies disabled, then that trades prod will be a lot lower.

they could make you use the variable if you want, like make in.php have something that grabs the header, or if they define say ?ref=somesite.com it will use $ref as the variable... then when you include in.php in your page, you can just do yoursite.com?ref=somesite.com and be good to go, or people can link to yoursite.com if they want...

my script checks for referral header and cookies, and trades traffic based on the presence of both.

my script will not trade traffic with no ref or cookies out to my top trades.
for awhile i was just filtering the skim off the untrackable out to choker galleries.

since the return on choker galleries is like 5$ for 7000 raw impressions, i wanted to come up with a better way.

right now im filtering all of the untrackable stuff to my smaller trades, and into my own network.

sure they cant track all of it, but they see some of it.
                every little bit helps.

Slothtrader approaches it from the other side: it will never send a surfer that has a blocked referer to a trade.

Also, if it was really such a problem then trading would have fallen flat years ago. The default return ratio or algorithm on most scripts will compensate for this issue.
