Do you use plugin content?

Do you get feedback from members about the plugin content?

Do you notice members stay around longer when youre using plugins?

After looking at about 50 paysites, the better question would be. Who uses anything but fucking plugin content?

Plugin Content is good filler type.

I use them very seldom...but I would NEVER use them for my main content.

The sites that do. Well...they won't retain members worth a shit.

Yea, it is good for filler.

You really want exclusive content as your main though.

I personally do not use plugs as I have in the past but one thing I always hated was slow servers. If the plug's server(s) suck, then my members get pissed.

there's nothing wrong with using plugin content.
it's depending on nothing else but plugin content that could make a difference.

many surfers, the ones who join paysites, have been online now for up to 5 or 6 years, probably joined 10 or more sites.

surfer Bob joins TenderTeens.com , he sees a bunch of photogalleries from David Lace, Matrix etc and then a bunch of teen oriented and other plugins from companies like Holio and Webmaster Paradise. He decides to leave after a couple of months.

So he's surfing and he feels like joining another teen site so he joins SweetassTeens.com cuz the tour looks good. He surfs on into the members area and there before him is some very familiar
photos and again the same plugins. You think he's going to stick around for 5 or 6 months?

This is all anecdotal stuff. There are people who will tell you it doesn't make a difference if you have exclusive content by the gobs or just a bunch of cheap plugins. Then there are people who run sites with exclusive quality content who will tell you they are still enjoying 5 and 6 member retention rates. Unless you do the test yourself you will never know.

So here would be a great test - take one of the niche sites run by one of the bigger affiliate programs, teens is easiest, swap out the members area full of nothing but plugins and replace it with the members area of a site like Amateur Teen Kingdom and then
see what happened. How much longer did the ATK members area retain a member if at all? Then figure out how much it would cost more to run an ATK type member area and see if it's worth it.

Some people say 'it costs more to 'buy' a new member than it does to keep an old member longer'.

i dunno. cuz nobody has ever shown me that they have done this test. it would be an expensive test to do which is probably why nobody has done it. Tho............. a site that is spending a whack of cash each month shooting its own content could do the test
cuz they would have to spend less money.

I've always wondered why Coke or Pepsi who spend ungodly amounts of money on advertising haven't ever decided to not advertise for like 3 or 4 months, just put all those millions of dollars in their pockets, surely people who are Coke drinkers aren't going to stop because suddenly there were no Coke ads for a few months. i guess the answer is that i am wrong, that they would lose customers if they stopped advertising.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

well here's a guy who could actually do this test and produce some valid data.

quiet runs a site with exclusive content, i haven't joined it yet but i'm assuming he doesn't use much third party plugin content.

so quiet could keep his existing front end, send the same traffic to it for 6 months, just swap out his existing members area and replace it with Holio and all the other plugin movie feeds. Then he could see if it meant anything to his bottom line one way or the other.

plugins are filler. they enhance a paysite. they are not meant to compose an entire member's area.

actually, no i couldn't. since a large amount of my traffic generation is based on free content which is used to sell the customer in the first place - i would be out of business in a day if i killed all the content and went to plugins.

free content MUST match member content (just a lot more of it/better quality).

As much as I want to tell you that plug-ins are the bomb (since that is what I do)...I agree with the majority of the posts here.

Plug-In content is filler, albeit important filler, in your members area. A successful site will have a lot of exclusive or semi-exclusive content, and update that content many times in a week.

No matter what, you will either have a substantial monetary expense (if you purchase enough exclusive content to update frequently) or a substantial time expense (if you shoot your own) to keep your exclusive content...plus the time it takes to make the galleries...And as you are aware, time = big money in this biz.

So...you supplement your exclusive content with plug-ins. You back your expensive and time consuming 'exclusive content' updates off to once a week and allow the plug-ins to update your site daily.

With plug-in content, you can boost the amount of content, and the frequency of updates without sacrificing time.

There are two types of plug-in image content...Updated and Static.

Updated plug-ins are, as you may imagine, updated on a set schedule. For instance, I offer 4 galleries which are updated daily and 4 which are updated weekly and one monthly. Updated galleries enable you to add a large amount of filler to your site, but also keep the site fresh. They also allow you to make those "Updated Daily" claims in your tour without stretching the truth

Static plug-ins are galleries which are not updated on a set schedule. These galleries tend to be priced less than Updated Galleries. Static plug-ins typically have a broad variety of smaller, niche galleries which can be leased as a whole, or separately....check out E-Z Plugs Content's (Randy's) site...He has many different galleries, and they are priced very affordadably (starting as low as $35).

NOTHING is a substitute for High Quality semi-exclusive or exclusive content when it comes to member retention.

See my sig for more information on my galleries...or hit me up on ICQ if you have any questions, or need more information about plug-ins in general.

Thanks,

We offer over 140+ (and growing rapidly) Adult Games plugins.

Especially in the games business I think plugin is the way to go.

More or less people love to play the content and get addicted, which is the key element to games content, but if you only buy one or two games for members it is not a very wide selection, so the members area looks very shallow. With plugins, we keep adding, but it doesn't add to the cost of the webmaster, so it is a win-win. Also the webmaster doens't have to spend time adding and updating themselves. You have to know what your time is worth if you are doing a lot of updating yourself, that should be factored in to your budgeting

I know my opinion is bias since we only provide plugin content. Just about all of the big players use our content, and over the past 2+ years we have almost a 100% retainment of our client base. From the smallest newbie webmaster to the bigger players.

I can only speak of my own experiences, but with retention like that I think atleast the plugin method for games content is the choice for most successful paysite webmasters.
